There are few boats or marine vessels that I can ride on. No access, no entry, no this, no that… so when the opportunity arises to sail I use it one hundred percent…
The best way to sail
A ferry is a vessel on which I can ride without problems.
There are several places on the Danube where you can find these vessels of the past, and I wish them a long life precisely because I can roll in and out of it like a gentleman.
This time, I mean the ferry at Ram Fort.
If you look at the map of the area, you will understand why the ferry is exactly in this place, although the Danube is almost like the sea.
If the ferry turned slightly to the right, I might have ended up in Romania.
Ferry near fortress Ram – What Do You Need to Know?
Well, other then the timetable:
– the Danube has been crossed here since Roman times.
– The ferry has been called Žikina since 1920.
– The journey takes half an hour
– The longest line on the Danube, 4200m.
– This ferry is used by everyone from cyclists, cars, trucks, tanks as the road is shorter by about 120 km.
– financially it is slightly more profitable and the ride is nicer and shorter
The ferry does not offer shopping, casino or a swimming pool but for half an hour, it was a pleasurable ride.
We had company in the form of fishermen, cyclists and natives who know this route by heart.
Even for animals, the ferry is a common thing.
Next to us lay a bag that constantly moved. Inside was the freshest fish in the world aimed at someone on the other side.
The wind was not strong, but I learned that they were also able to ban a ride when the Danube became wild.
How did it go?
-I wasn’t “sick”
-I could roll on the “boat”
-My wheelchair didn’t shake
-I have a direct view of the “captain’s cabin”
-The ferry can’t roll over but you can get your feet wet
– They allow pets to board
– I swallowed a fly for the first time in my life
Epilogue
Just as every bus station has its food shack, the ferry has its own cafes on both sides where fish specialties are served.
This time we “parked” on the Romanian side to enjoy the view and the freshest fish in the world.
The ferry drove another lap as we enjoyed the fruits of the Danube in the shade.
We were in no hurry.
I strongly recommend that you take one such circuit as a one day trip.
Traveled and enjoyed,
